Hey Everyone!
We have a 9 hour zone conference on Friday and we are on the suspicion that there will be training for ipads. Every missionary gets an ipad before April and that is straight from President, so we are all getting ipads and he told the zone leaders that we all get to keep our ipads after the mission. I’m so excited!!! . I will definitely get to Skype so its going to be really good.
This has been by far the best week of my entire mission! elder Olguin is really good. We get along really well and we work really hard. We are in a bussing area so its definitely cold waiting outside for the bus at night freezing our tails off. haha we see some freaks at the bus stops too. We were in a glass bus shelter the other day and this guy walks in, looks at me, and starts bashing his head and face on the glass as hard as he could, trying to knock himself out.... it was so weird. I walked over to him and was like "bro can I help you with something? You seem a bit upset... hahaha!" he just was like "It’s been a bad day today!" and kept hitting his head so I just told him to not get brain damage and asked why it was a bad day and he was like " I have a lot of things in my pocket and people look at me like a pickpocketer...." then we got on the bus. I was just expecting him to like stab me or something... it was so weird.
We went to visit a deaf family that Elder Olguin has been teaching. I swear this guy is crazy! He learned asl (american sign language) for five months to teach these people. I’ve learned a lot of it as well. Anyways, we were walking back and Elder Olguin stepped on a chunk of "snow" and let out this yelp haha. It wasn’t snow... it was a dead frozen cat. It was so funny. I was laughing so freaking hard! hahahaha.
The Lord has blessed us this week. We stopped by 3 former investigators houses this week and got let in... to all three houses... and they all want to meet with us again! It was so great!!! It was just like the best feeling in the world. I have gotten so much more teaching experience and as we relied on the Spirit, I knew what to say, and they want to learn more. I love it!
We went over to this less actives house, Scott Gerzanik, who has had 2 brain aneurisms and doesn’t remember anything about the church at all... his apartment is above a bar and is about half the size of our kitchen at home. We were smashed in there, but the best part is, he had just rescued 2 kittens... he wasn’t feeding them the right stuff so they had the worst diarrhea I have ever seen.. they pooped on his pants so he went to the bathroom downstairs at the bar to change his pants, but while he was gone the kittens pooped all over his bed... he came back in a brand new pair of pants and sat in a bunch of poop... then the kittens climbed on his head and pooped in his hair and on his shirt, and all over him... hahahahahahahahahaha it stunk sooooooo bad.... he was supposed to come to the Ward Christmas party the next day but called us saying that it was a really bad day.... his one cat died in its sleep and the other one jumped out the window!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha poor guy. I feel bad, but it’s so funny! He came to church though and wants us to re teach him the discussions so thats really good.
We are teaching some native people, Joseph and Gabriel, and they are so prepared. Joseph is changing his life around and is so ready to be baptized. he stayed up for 12 hours straight watching mormon messages all night. He’s almost too gung ho on it but I think that is a problem that isn’t really a problem.
We spend a lot of time with our district leader Elder Barton and his comp Elder Berger. They stayed at our apt last night and we all got to shop at Costco and spend p-day together. They are the best. soo funny! I’m loving it here. Our apartment is soooo nice! We’re on the 7th floor and have free laundry and a garbage shute. We are living large!
We had our "prelude to christmas" last night. We combined with the Mother Cary Christmas church and had a huge devotional all about christmas music with them. I was singing in the choir and not to brag but my singing skills are getting pretty good. I’m almost ready to go proooo....
I’m loving the work here. There is so much to do! I love having things to do and going to bed absolutely exhausted knowing that I have pleased the Lord. It’s so much fun.
I love you all and thank you so much for the support!
Elder Porter
