November 4, 2013

Hey mom

so this week was pretty fun. We picked up our new companion Elder Gardner. For the first couple days he was super shy and didn't talk with us a lot. It was weird. I just asked him, elder, are you shy or do you not like us? and ever since then, we have been super good. He's a really good, pure, kid. This trio is gonna be great!

We did a ton of service this week. We helped Matthew Anderson move lights and appliances into his new house, and we have finally finished the horse shelter at Archembaults! That day was cold. Elder johnson and I put all the tin on the roof and Elder Gardner and Bro. Archembault put up braces and stuff all around the corners. haha they were both standing on one of the braces, like 5 feet up and the nails came out and they both fell pretty good haha. Bro. Archembault even bore his testimony on it haha. Testimony meeting was...um..really interesting. a rcmp officer, Brother Drennan, got up to bear his testimony. Bro Drennan is super ripped, just stacked and he got up there and was talking about how if he didn't listen to the Spirit the other night he would've been dead instead of a different guy he killed. But every time he talked about the Spirit, he would slap the podium and say 'if i didnt listen to that stupid feeling, or dumb feeling,' and he would slap the podium haha it was so funny. He's a good guy though.

On Halloween we had to lie low pretty much the whole day, so we went over to the Archembaults and watched a really good movie called Ephraims Rescue. It is by the same guy who wrote 17 miracles. He actually gave us a fireside at the mtc. But anyways we watched it and it was hard not to cry. If you guys can, get it and watch it for family home evening. It brings the Spirit so immensley and it is just so so good.

We got Lauren to church!!! For the first time in over a year! He came and he loved it!!! holy! We can't believe that he came. It was so so good. He's progressing a lot. Lauren is the crazy skitzo that I was talking about a while ago.

Man some people are just rude to missionaries. I said good morning to multiple people this week and so many people just say 'yeah? whats so good about it eh?" haha I just laugh. People don't like it, but whatever. In every good thing there will be opposition.

So this week I have had many good expieriences with prayer. Sometimes we get stupid doubts that try our faith. Satan will put those doubts in your mind sometimes. This week someone said what if Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet and he just made it all up? That scared me. It shouldn't have but I thought about it. I was reading the Book of Mormon and pondering. I kneeled at my bedside and I asked God if Joseph Smith was a true prophet and if the Book of Mormon was true. I sat there, listening for a bit and all of a sudden, a thought popped into my head. It wasn't my own. The thought was "why are you even asking this? You know the Book of Mormon is true, therefore Joseph was a prophet. Now get up and get to work." Elder Holland said this about the Book of Mormon "no wicked man could write such a book, and no good man would write it unless he was commanded of God..." this experience hit me hard. It really built my testimony about our brother Joseph. He was a prophet of God and I cannot deny it. I always had faith that he was. Now I know. there is no denying it...

Today we went out to Pine Falls and Pinewa and visited less actives and non members so my p-day got taken haha. I'll have a little more time to email tomorrow. Oh and daylight savings time has come here so we were at church for our meetings way too early haha. I'll send some pics. love you guys!
