Arriving in Canada, ready to meet President Thomas and his wife.
Hey Everyone! Im loving it here. My companion Elder Johnson is from alberta Canada. its about 50-65 degrees here.
Well the first night we got to Winnipeg we stayed at the misson presidents home. real nice I got a king size bed haha. Then we went and did training and found out our area we would be serving in. our mission is the biggest mission sizewise out of every mission. Im in Selkirk right now with the coolest comp ever. Elder Johnson. In Selkirk there are about 8000 people and there are only 4 members!! We go to a branch of about 35-40. The people here are nice but a lot of them are content with what they have.. kinda rough. this area has been tracted so many times that me and elder Johnson are starting to think outside the box. We got permission from the junior high to use the gym every Thursday for a sports night and doing bible study during school. Hope we can get some new investigators. We did get a new investigator the day that I got here. Her name is Denise. She's real receptive and is way humble.

So we call this place selcrack. There's a bunch of crackheads here haha. There is one guy in particular we teach who is a less active member named lauren... Lauren is absolutely insane. I'll show you my journal entry "we visited a really strange less active member named Lauren. He was so weird. We would talk about 3 Nephi and he would go off on 10 min tangents about government conspiracys about blimps and japan and mutation and all sorts of weird stuff. I was trying so hard not to laugh. Then his dog farted and me and elder Johnson lost it.. hahahaha it was so gross!!!" haha we taught Lauren again sunday night and had a really good visit and taught about the plan of salvation. He felt the spirit so strong and actually wants to go back to church! It's so excellent! haha he opened the door wearing these weird yellow glasses in his boxers and was talking to us about teleportation and how he has the cure for cancer. He is very strange but once we brought the spirit there he was a little more normal. Not normal but more so. haha.
We went street contacting and I gave a book of Mormon to a gang member.. haha he came up to us with a few others and was like "what are you doing here" and I was like were here to help others come closer to Christ by sharing a message and I taught him a little bit and gave him the book of Mormon haha. oh Canada. They eat a few weird things here.. like ketchup flavored lays? gross eh?

haha we were teaching a woman named Valerie at a coffee shop at tim thortons but she doesn't understand anything. her comprehension is that of a 1st graders. so today were gonna go through a picture book with her. its really hard to find new investigators here. not many people want to listen. Selkirk is one of the tougher parts of the mission. but as I endure it I will be blessed.
we went to teach a less active named Chris Palmer.. Chris is permafried and on his confirmation day.. he showed up drunk.. haha this place is so great.. I absolutely love it hahaa
